INTAKE was founded on a commitment to transform the lives of underserved children, by utilizing the arts as a mechanism for personal development and social change. Our programs directly address the opportunity gap faced by underserved children, especially those who come from immigrant communities, whose life circumstances make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for them to gain access and exposure to the arts and to arts education. Our tuition-free/minimal-tuition programs level the playing field, opening opportunity, and creating vehicles for achieving inclusion, cultural equity, and artistic accomplishment. All of this is accomplished within a culturally relevant and responsive context that promotes in our students a sense of cultural empowerment, pride, and connection.
