My dearest friends and colleagues,

I hope that this summer has treated you well and more than anything, that your work, family, and health life are better than ever.

Having just returned from an international tour this past month, we are in awe of the wonderful and unique opportunities that we’ve had these past few months and since INTAKE’s inception in 2011.

That is why I wanted to take this opportunity to invite you to share one of our most memorable and exciting moments: the national premiere of our documentary “Compadre Huashayo” on Monday October 20th, from 6-9PM at the beautiful Italian Center of Stamford.

One does not have the opportunity to work with a Latin Grammy award-winning composer every day; nor the privilege to collaborate with an eleven-time Emmy award-winning PBS videographer! That is why this documentary by Aric Hartvig and music by Gabriela Lena Frank are truly the starting point for our vision of creating an “Integrated Orchestra” and truly making classical music and native instruments relevant, accessible and inclusive.

I am pleased to share some reasons to celebrate with us:

  • Confirmed national distribution of “Compadre Huashayo” on PBS network
  • State of Connecticut, Arts Leadership grant award recipient
  • City of Stamford, Community Development Block grant award recipient
  • Sphinx Organization, Inaugural MPower artist grant recipient
  • Symphonic partnership with Norwalk Youth Symphony
  • ..and more!

Thank you very much, and please see the formal event invitation below.

As always, I am just a phone call, meeting, or email away

angie@intakemusic.org ; 203-952-3762

Yours, always.

What happens when a Grammy award-winning, western classical composer Gabriela Lena Frank takes a traditional western composition and creates it for traditional Latin American instruments – the horn section replaced by a host of panflutes; charangos and bandolins in place of violins?
The result is Compadre Huashayo, a lively and intriguing cultural blend of tone and style.

Hailed by the international media as an important project that promotes cultural exchange between two nations.

Produced by: ARIC HARTVIG,
ELEVEN-TIME EMMY AWARD-WINNING PBS VIDEOGRAPHER

Written for and premiered by the Orquesta de Instrumentos Andinos,
in partnership with Fundación Teatro Nacional Sucre. Quito-Ecuador.

Presented by the Intake Organization, Inc and recently confirmed
for national distribution on the PBS network.
