Carolina Mata Tovar is the Vice President, Employee and Internal Communications at Pitney Bowes in Stamford, Conn.

Carolina has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and communications, digital and social media, brand reputation, innovation processes, field sales, and sales operations.  In her current role, Carolina is accountable for both executive and employee messaging across the global enterprise utilizing the company’s redesigned digital ecosystem, including its intranet, email distribution, and digital signage.  She is accountable for ensuring employee understanding and engagement of corporate strategy and individual accountability for driving a cultural transformation.

She joined Pitney Bowes from Xerox Corp., where she held a number of senior management positions.  Most recently, Carolina was Vice President, Sales Operations Excellence, for its large enterprise operations. In this role, she helped lead the transformation and restructuring of the go-to-market strategy for this area of the business. Carolina first joined Xerox as Manager of Interactive Employee Communications in 1998.

Prior to rejoining Xerox in January 2010, Carolina spent nine years with Whirlpool Corp. in a number of marketing and communications roles, including Director of Marketing, Innovation and Customer Loyalty, Sales and Marketing, Consumer Engagement and Director of Internal and Interactive Communications. In this role, she worked closely with senior leaders, including the CEO, and developed the company’s first global employee portal that brought together daily business applications, internal and external news sources and employee resources.

From 1992 to 1998, Carolina worked at several agencies including Earle Palmer Brown, River Communications and Gibbs & Soell.  She began her career as a reporter in 1989.

Carolina is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and received her Master of Business Administration from Notre Dame in 2005. In addition, she serves on the board of the Ascent program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and is a member of several industry associations including the National Society of Hispanic MBAs and the International  Association of Business Communicators.
